Photo Submission Guidelines

We welcome your photographs! Every cover of the Homeschool Guide has been submitted by a home education family! We are always looking for photos to place in the magazine as well. If you have a fantastic photo don't hesitate to send it to us at any time for consideration in the publication.  

To have your photograph published in the Homeschool Guide magazine we must have your express written permission. Click Here to print, sign and return the photo release form. Photos cannot be considered for publication until this form has been received.


Photos should be submitted via email in a low resolution format (72 dpi). Photos that are approved for publication should be resubmitted in high resolution (300 dpi). Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to

Article Submission Guidelines

We are happy to receive proposals and submissions of editorial material at any time. The Homeschool Guide magazine has four different editorial sections: On the Cover, Feature, Learning Resources, and Current Affairs. We welcome submissions for all in addition to any unique editorial suggestions.

 

On the Cover - Photo & Article (max. 750 words)
This article is written by the homeschool family whose photo is on the cover of the magazine. Usually written by the homeschool parent, this article is an opportunity for the homeschool family to share their experience, advice or special homeschool moment related to the photo.

This article is written once a photo has been approved and accepted to go on the cover. Love your photo but concerned about writing? Our editorial team is pleased to assist you! Just send us your ideas and we'll help you every step of the way.

 

Feature Article (max. 2500 words)
Each issue of the magazine has at least one feature article. The feature is an in depth article intended to provide parents with information on any number of education-related topics. Previous articles in the magazine have included: Neurodevelopment, Vision & Learning, Educational Assessments, Hearing Impairment, Brain Gym, and Gifted Learning. They have also included indepth home education experiences!

 

Learning Resources & Support (max. 1500 words)
Each issue of the magazine has at least two Learning Resource & Support articles.

 

Learning Resource articles are light-hearted, single-page, fun pieces that provide information, research and follow-up resources on a subject areas: Math, History, Geography, Science. Learning Resource articles are, in fact, unit studies. Their purpose is to provide parents with the basics of a topic along with links to fulfill curriculum requirements, making the study of a particular topic fast and easy. No teaching preparation required!

 

Support articles can include personal testimonials from current homeschoolers or alumni. Their focus is to be inspirational and encouraging. Share your experience with others.

 

Current Resources (max. 750 words)
This section is dedicated to keeping readers up-to-date on current government legislation, private initiatives and other issues in the area of education.

 

Original unpublished articles are preferred. If your article has been previously printed (paper or online) we must be advised as to when and where it has been previously published.

 

Any editorial material submitted to the Education Group for publication may be used, reproduced, published, re-published, distributed, stored and archived in whole or in part in any form or medium whatsoever by Education Group without compensation of any sort unless compensation is expressly offered and agreed upon in writing.

 

Once your article has been accepted, no portion of it may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, including photocopying and recording or by an information storage and retrieval system, without written permission from the publisher. Homeschool Class & Program Submission Guidelines

The Homeschool Guide is pleased to publish information about homeschool classes and programs at no cost both in the magazine and on our website.
 
To qualify for free publication, all programs and classes for homeschooled students should run during regular school hours, between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, or be open to homeschooled students only.
 
All homeschool class and program ("activity") details should be submitted by email in the following format to be considered for publication:

  • Name of Organization offering activity
  • Website
  • Address with postal code
  • Contact phone number

Name of Activity
Date(s) and Day(s) of Activity
Description of Activity (max 100 words)
Age/Grade of students who can register for Activity
Time of Activity
Cost of Activity per Student

Individual programs and classes cannot be added to the website at this time, however you may list your organization on the website under Learning Enrichment. Click Here to add your organization to the website now. A basic listing is available at no cost.

The Homeschool Guide is pleased to publish information about upcoming events: school open houses, homeschool contests, competitions and conferences at no cost both in the magazine and on our website.
 
All events should be submitted by email in the following format to be considered for publication:
 

  • Name of Event
  • Date of Event
  • Description of event (max 100 words)
  • URL to event information
